Sale conditions of wood are specified by the regulation of Director – General of the Sate Forests.
Within the framework of the individual sale , the foresters try to meet the fast growing demand, because more and more people use wood in order to heat their houses. Contrary to general opinion, these are not only village people, even though they prevail among recipients. The growth of firewood demand is the result of occurrence of new housing estates built in the suburbs of large agglomerations, where houses are usually equipped in fireplace heating installations.
Firewood is not only the most ecological heat source, but also is much more attractive in respect of relation of price and electric efficiency, rather than cola, oil, gas or electric power.
In recent years, the Sate Forests increased the sale of firewood of one third – up to over 4 million cubic meters annually. Some of customers choose already prepared and cut into pieces wood, the others very willingly obtain it by themselves after arranging all details and fulfilling particular safety conditions, and after paying the fee; that concerns mainly so called "thinnings". Such a raw material is very cheap, that is why many people from village areas profit from such possibility.

Informowanie samorządów o działalności nadleśnictw
Realizując obowiązek przekazywania informacji o działalności nadleśnictw, który został wprowadzony Zarządzeniem nr 115 Dyrektora Generalnego Lasów Państwowych w dniu 18 września 2024 r. w sprawie przekazywania informacji o działalności nadleśnictw radom gmin i sejmikom województw Nadleśnictwo Turawa do końca kwietnia złożyło raporty do wszystkich 6 gmin.
W przesłanych raportach zostały przedstawione informacje z działalności Nadleśnictwa Turawa w poprzednim roku oraz zostały zaprezentowane plany i koncepcje na rok bieżący. Sprawozdanie obejmowało realizację zadań z zakresu m.in. ochrony lasu i przyrody, hodowli lasu, pozyskania drewna, inicjatyw społecznych, wspólnych inwestycji, projektów środowiskowych oraz zagrożeń dla ekosystemów leśnych.
W tym roku część gmin, chcąc bliżej poznać nasze plany na przyszłość, omówić bieżące działania zaprosiła nas na spotkania. Uczestniczyliśmy w Sesji Rady Gminy Turawa, Sesji Rady Gminy Murów oraz Sesji Rady Gminy Łubniany, na których przedstawiliśmy działalność Nadleśnictwa Turawa w roku 2024 oraz działania planowane na rok 2025.
Współpraca nadleśnictw z lokalnymi samorządami to korzyści dla obu stron, a bezpośrednie spotkania to okazja do kontaktu z mieszkańcami i przedstawicielami lokalnych wspólnot. To także doskonała okazja do dialogu, przedstawienia informacji na temat sposobów zarządzania lasami, ich wpływu na gospodarkę i klimat, a także wsłuchania się w oczekiwania lokalnych społeczności.
